Bird Cliffs of Vestmanna │ Private Tour

Vestmanna Sea Cliff Private Tour

Experience the wild beauty of the Faroe Islands on this private guided tour, tailored just for you. The journey begins in Tórshavn, from where we drive to the village of Vestmanna for a stunning boat trip along the dramatic bird cliffs. Puffins chatter on the rock ledges, their calls mingling with the deep growls of guillemots and the rhythmic splash of waves. A puffin dives and resurfaces with a beak full of fish before fluttering up to its nest high above. Meanwhile, sheep graze calmly on the green slopes, and a curious seal might make an appearance in the water below. Within minutes of leaving the harbor, we’re sailing beneath some of Europe’s most awe-inspiring sea cliffs.

Vestmannabjørgini

The boat tour lasts around two hours and brings you as close to the vertical cliffs as the weather allows—through narrow straits, past basalt columns, and into sea caves carved over millions of years. Your private guide will be with you throughout the day, offering fascinating insights into the birdlife, geology, and stories of Vestmanna: from sailors seeking refuge during storms to the times when pirates raided this remote settlement.

Coastal Charm in Leynar

Next, we visit the idyllic village of Leynar, one of the few Faroese spots with a white sandy beach. Nestled on the hillside, colorful houses overlook views of Koltur, northern Vágar, and Kvívík. On sunny days, the beach is a lively local favorite, often bathed in sunlight while Tórshavn lies hidden beneath summer fog. After rainfall, salmon can sometimes be seen leaping up the river beside the beach.

Ancient Roots in Kvívík

We end the day in Kvívík, one of the oldest settlements in the Faroe Islands. Here, the remains of Viking longhouses over a thousand years old can still be seen. With access to fresh water, fertile slopes, and the open sea, this valley offered the perfect conditions for early settlers. Today, the village still thrives under the morning sun with views stretching toward Vágar, Koltur, Sandoy, and Hestoy.
